Sony Ericsson’s latest multimedia-centric phone seems to be a serious iPhone contender with its HD-capable, 8.1 Megapixel camera which can shoot 720p video. It also flaunts 8GBs of storage, a 3.2” screen, out of the box Facebook and Twitter integration, and a plethora of other bells and whistles, which most likely will make it popular.

Apple defends AT&T, downplays talk of multi-carrier inevitability

Despite a howl of complaints and even lawsuits filed by some disgruntled iPhone users, Apple reiterated that it supports AT&T as a great mobile partner, despite rumored moves to expand its iPhone partnerships in the U.S.

Apple profits soar 50% on record sales of 3.36M Macs, 8.7M iPhones

Apple said Monday that first-quarter profits shot up more than 50 percent to $3.38 billion, or $3.67 per diluted share, on record sales of $15.68 billion for the three-month period ended December 26, 2009.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz (Kurara) Launched Prematurely

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been keeping tabs on Sony Ericsson ( NYSE: SNE )’s Kurara, which has promised to be a reasonably impressive Symbian device with an 8 megapixel camera and 3.2” WVGA touchscreen. Little had been said about an official launch before today, but a press release has been issued and quickly retracted, possibly a slip-up in preparation for the Mobile World Congress next month

HTC Smart: Affordable Smartphone

The latest mobile phone from HTC is named HTC Smart, ironically the ’smartness’ is limited to only the name as this is actually an affordable phone with smartphone features and hence it is stripped of some of HTC’s legendary groundbreaking features. The HTC Smart uses Qualcomm Brew platform along with HTC Sense UI. It will be probably running on a 300MHz processor with 256MB ROM and 256MB RAM.

Samsung W9600

Samsung has released another pico projecting device Samsung W9600, which is said to be the successor to last year’s W7900. We have not much info about this new W9600 but then it is said to use the Texas Instruments’ WVGA chip for projection, and will feature a 5-megapixel camera, large touch sensitive AMOLED screen display, and also capability to project videos, photos and even W9600’s interface.

How to Get Google Maps on your Nokia N900

Yeah, the N900’s native browser is badass enough to actually load the real Google ( NSDQ: GOOG ) Maps front page, but it take forever to load and isn’t what you’d call “mobile friendly”. Luckily, YoDude from HowardForums has put together a nice little solution that will definitely do the trick. Download and install Oleg Romashin’s Geolocation extension .
