New GMail Icons Let you Know Which Friends Use Android

Those who use GMail regularly be familiar with the Google ( NSDQ: GOOG ) Talk sidebar showing which of your friends are online, as well as the wide variety of customization options available. A new one fresh from the labs is Android icons that let you know if your contact is currently online thanks to an Android device, complete with yellow Away robots, and red Busy ones. This would be a great option even if it were just extra eye candy for the Android-obsessed, but knowing someone is mobile definitely helps contextualize the conversation, and potentially avoids anyone getting offended at short, terse replies

Chillingo’s Ravensword: The Fallen King is easily the best RPG title in the AppStore

Chillingo keeps pumping new games to the AppStore. Their latest baby is called Ravensword: The Fallen King, and it’s probably one of the best (if not the best) RPG title for the iPhone/iPod Touch. As you’re probably aware what RPG genre brings to the table, I’ll quickly jump to the game features: Gameplay is a hybrid between 3D action game (FPS), adventure and RPG

Motorola Motus rumored to sport reverse keyboard and backside touchpad?

The metaphorical ink on the just-leaked Motorola ( NYSE: MOT ) Motus spy pic hasn’t yet dried and were already hearing rumors that the Android handset will sport some really unique features. If you thought the form factor was a bit odd, you’re going to want to sit down for this. Word has it that the Moto Motus will feature a “reverse flip keyboard,” and (as if that isn’t crazy enough) something called a “rear directional touchpad.” Of course, the Motus is also rumored to be packing the usual assortment of smartphone features

The silliest moments in film involving mobiles…

So I was typing away this evening, and thinking about the movie Swordfish – an enjoyable romp featuring John Travolta, Hugh Jackman, and of course (who could forget) Halle Berry There are several priceless moments in that film where the lead characters are spewing techno-babble that is devoid of any joined up thinking – trojans, firewalls, ciphers, you name it – all mashed together in meaningless, cringe-inducing, gibberish. But that’s kind of what makes the movie good! It got me thinking, there must be some of these types of moments involving mobile devices – and then suddenly a couple hit me – but before I name them, feel free to zing a comment on the end of this piece if you can think of others – as I said, there must be lots, right? Great moment #1: Die Hard 4.0 (2007) – Justin Long is using a Nokia ( NYSE: NOK ) Communicator, when the mobile networks all drop (as the bad guys are busy taking them down)

This season, crazy monkey shoes are the new hotness at the Chrome OS event

Velcome, darling! Look what we have for you! Sergey Brin wearing VFF KSOs, CrunchGear’s favorite, as Greg calls them, “crazy monkey shoes.” I’m personally a VFF convert and I’m very impressed that Sergey is willing to walk around in these. For those not in the know, Vibram Five Fingers are ultralight running/sports shoes with separate pockets for each toe

What ChromeOS Means For Netbooks And Why Microsoft Needs To Be Scared

While you won’t be able to sense it at first, expect to feel a high frequency buzz from the direction of Redmond in the next few months. That’s the Windows 7 and Office group fearing the rise of a new juggernaut on low-cost computing hardware, ChromeOS. ChromeOS may not be powerful, it may not play Far Cry and it may not run Microsoft Office but it’s a game changer.

Google goes on the record, says they’re creating reference hardware for Chrome OS; what about Android?

I just finished watching Google ( NSDQ: GOOG )’s live webcast announcement of Google Chrome OS and besides being let down that we, as in general consumers, are not going to be able to play with it for a year, I was stunned to hear Google admit that they’re going to be creating reference hardware. Google will not only be building the software for Google Chrome OS, but they’ll be handpicking, and optimizing software for, the hardware that will be under that thin Chinese plastic case we call an exterior. This is big stuff.

TELUS Sues Rogers over Ads

Hey, Verizon ( NYSE: VZ ) and AT&T ( NYSE: T ) aren’t the only ones getting into hissy fits over inaccurate ad campaigns ; telus ( NYSE: TU ) has just launched their own litigation against Rogers ( NYSE: RCI ) on similar grounds. Shawn Hall,? senior communications manager with telus , said “Rogers has no network advantage and should not be misleading Canadians with false superiority claims,”  although those claims were apparently accurate until telus opened up their HSPA network a few weeks ago .

Virgin Mobile Canada Launching iPhone 3G and 3GS ‘in the Coming Months’

Today Virgin Mobile Canada released an official statement regarding iPhone availability: Virgin Mobile Canada will launch iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in Virgin Mobile Retail Stores and online in Canada in the coming months. I’m not sure if they could have been any more vague… But at least this is an official ‘it’s coming’ statement. My buds over at MobileSyrup believe ‘coming soon’ means February 2010

Windows Mobile 7 Shown in Secret, Impressions Leak

Now that Windows Mobile 6.5 is getting out there into the public , it’s time we started seeing something regarding the next generation of Windows phones. Apparently an early demo of WinMo 7 was shown to a private audience; some folks, like @ryanblock , kept their yap shut about it (presumably under the force of a non-disclosure agreement), but some of SoloPalmari ’s impressions made it out to Google ( NSDQ: GOOG ) Translate before getting DCMA’d in the face: Revolutionary, no need to take away: the next version of Windows Mobile, as shown by the leaks and the first screenshots of the new system, the Web will soon be spring, we are faced with an upheaval of the logic of interaction and not just a substantial revision of the interface. The concept of “applications”, as the programs continue to live their important identities, will bend to the principle of “user experience”.

Imation Pro WX wireless USB hard drive now shipping: 1.5TB for $450

Imation today officially starts shipping “the world’s first Wireless USB external hard drive,” the Imation Pro WX. It’s a 1.5TB hard drive with an MSRP of $450 — too rich for my blood but it may be able to find a home in small businesses or larger households. Seeing as though you’d need a special wireless USB connector attached to each computer, a network hard drive will still make a bit more sense for most people (no special equipment needed, longer range, etc.) until the prices of these wireless USB products start to fall

Hey Engadget, love the new look, but your RSS feed is now a bit of a sneaky bastard

The most visited technology blog, Engadget , recently changed their design. People appear to have mixed feelings about the new look , and I could personally care less since I read Engadget via RSS. That being said, I think I speak for everyone at IntoMobile when I say that Engadget was what inspired us to start blogging in the first place, and eventually, one by one, come together to form IntoMobile
