Apple Rejected Me gathers iPhone app developers rejected by Cupertino

By now, you’re probably aware of questionable practices involved in Apple ( NSDQ: AAPL )’s iPhone application approval process. Apparently, there are quite a few apps that were rejected by Jobs & Co, hence a dedicated website was created to share the pain and, I guess, help in lobbying for more open procedure. The site is called “ Apple Rejected Me ” (ARM) and it’s main problem is that anyone can add his or her two cents anonymously

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 to get picked up by T-Mobile?

As far as rumors and speculation are concerned, we had our sights set on AT&T ( NYSE: T ) as the carrier of choice for Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X10 Android phone . But, new revelations gleaned from Sony Ericssons’ own X10 whitepaper suggest that we might see T-Mobile ( NYSE: DT ) offering an XPERIA X10 in the near future. It’s not clear if the X10 will be a T-Mobile exclusive or if Sony Ericsson ( NYSE: SNE ) will be selling their latest XPERIA smartphone through both AT&T and T-Mobile USA

Apple bans iPhone developer and pulls 1000 apps for faking app reviews on AppStore

With something like 100,000 apps now available for the iPhone, the AppStore is a solid target for iPhone developers without scruples looking to scam the system. The good news is that Apple ( NSDQ: AAPL ) isn’t going to stand by and allow these kinds of iPhone devs to sully the AppStore’s good name.

You will be impressed by the latest Perfect Dark for Xbox Live Arcade screenshots

I literally just said “Wow!” out loud looking at these screenshots of Perfect Dark for Xbox Live Arcade. There’s a few more screenshots on Rare’s Web site, but only the ones here have before and after comparison shots: While I’m all of a sudden looking forward to playing the game again, it’s sorta depressing to think that this will never happen to GoldenEye

Digital China Picking up BlackBerry

China Mobile ( NYSE: CHL ) has been offering limited BlackBerry ( NSDQ: RIMM ) devices and service for about two years so far, before which consumers had to buy both from Hong Kong and roam, but selection is about to get a bit better as RIM has struck a deal with distributor Digital China . While it doesn’t look like they manage much the retail front-end themselves (although they do supply stores in 19 cities across China), Digital China’s work in IT infrastructure is likely a big part of RIM’s work with them, even if it’s only in so far as doing BlackBerry Enterprise Server installations, or hosted BES

Castoven: Microwave with built-in YouTube player (video)

Two researchers from Japan’s Keio University (which yours truly attended just until recently by the way) have developed a kitchen appliance aimed at the total web geek in you, a YouTube-powered microwave. The so-called Castoven [JP] is based on a conventional, unbranded model of “good quality” but sports a 10.4-inch LCD screen in the door panel. Needless to say the researchers didn’t forget to build a set of speakers into the microwave, too

AT&T giving away free smartphones to new U-verse customers

AT&T ( NYSE: T )’s U-verse TV service is looking like an even better deal this month. Customers who opt for a qualifying triple-play bundle (TV, Internet and Wireless service) will get $400 cash back to spend through the holidays.

Leaked: HTC’s handset releases for the first half of 2010

If HTC’s trying to keep their device releases top-secret, they’re not doin’ a very good job. While individual leaks seem to be rare, they seem to be making a habit out of bundling up all their upcoming releases into one big presentation, which in turn leaks all over the internet. It happened right at the beginning of 2009 and, sure enough, it looks like the first half of 2010 has already been locked down and leaked out.

Keypad Gives Gmail Addicts Colorful Shortcut Keys

Heavy Gmail users know that keyboard shortcuts are the key to mail productivity: I can power through an inbox full of spam and PR come-ons with nothing more than the J, K, X, Shift-3 and Y keys. For $20, you can put those shortcut keys onto their own, external keypad, with color-coded buttons to make it easy to press whatever you want. The Gboard would be handy for those who have trouble remembering Google’s many shortcut keys (for instance, I had no idea that there were enough to fill out the Gboard’s 19 separate keys).

BlackBerry 9100 Striker Parts, Coming Soon Appears at Wholesalers

After a healthy batch of both video and picture leaks of the next generation BlackBerry ( NSDQ: RIMM ) Pearl 9100, code-named Striker, we’ve got the first signs of a commercial presence. Given OEM parts seller SW-Box has 9100 keypads in stock , and unlocked handset vendor Pure Mobile has it up in their shop as coming soon , it won’t be long before we start seeing proper carrier inventories populating with 9100 SKUs. A release before the holidays might seem like wishful thinking, but Popular Electronics is listing the 9100 as available as of December 15 .

Traveling With An iPhone: My New Zealand Experience

Following an article I wrote about a month ago about my experience finding a carrier for my iPhone while traveling through Australia, I wanted to write a quick post about my experience in New Zealand. As I said in a post earlier last week, internet in Australia sucks big time, which makes me miss AT&T and I was wondering what kind of pay-as-you-go iPhone plan I could get in New Zealand. Prior to flying there, I contacted Chris Rawson , a writer at TUAW who recently moved to New Zealand to ask him what carrier he would recommend.

Ultrabrief: Nokia sues 11 companies that produce LCD screens, says they fixed their prices

In case you haven’t heard the news from all the other technology blogs out there, Nokia ( NYSE: NOK ) is suing AU Optronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Samsung, Sharp, LG, Tatung, Seiko Epson, Samsung SDI, Hitachi, Toshiba ( OTCPK: TOSBF ) and Philips, for allegedly fixing the prices of LCD screens between January 1, 1996 to December 11, 2006. That’s 10 years of over paying. Why it took them so long to sue is a more interesting question than what kind of money Nokia is looking to earn from this legal battle.

Rogers Goes from “Most Reliable” to Plain Old “Reliable”

A few weeks ago, telus ( NYSE: TU ) launched a suit against Rogers ( NYSE: RCI ) arguing that Rogers had no claim to being “Canada’s most reliable network” since telus now has an HSPA network to put them on par with the GSM incumbent. Today, Rogers’ front page has had some minor wording changes, namely that they aren’t necessarily the most reliable, but they’re still reliable… In that they have a network that does what it’s supposed to most of the time, I guess. The new tagline just doesn’t have that same “king of the hill” ring to it, does it?

iPhone App: AT&T’s “Mark the Spot” turns iPhone owners into wireless network testers

A long, long time ago I was once told that if people in Japan ever experienced a dead zone, they would simply call their mobile operator, tell them what happened and where, and soon their problem would be fixed and an apology would be issued. Will AT&T do the same with their “Mark the Spot” iPhone application [ iTunes link ] remains to be seen, but it’s an awesome attempt to fix their problems, even if it’s just a publicity stunt. Here is how “Mark the Spot” works: You turn the application on after you’ve experienced terrible service from AT&T, select the problem you’ve experienced, allow the GPS to get a fix of where the problem is, and then hit submit.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks available today on Nintendo DS/DSi

Fans of the Legend of Zelda games who happen to leave the house once in awhile don’t need to be told that today marks the newest installment of portable Zelda games, as The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks hits store shelves for the Nintendo DS and DSi for $34.99. Our favorite protagonist, Link, will have a traveling companion this time around. Princess Zelda, herself, will accompany Link “on an original quest to save Hyrule from ruin.” What’s not really talked about is that this is also a test of their relationship

Rescue Princess Daphne All Over Again in Dragon’s Lair for the iPhone

EA Mobile announced today they have brought the timeless gaming classic, Dragon’s Lair , to the iPhone / iPod Touch.  Dragon’s Lair for the iPhone / iPod Touch stays true to the arcade classic in Arcade Mode, but it also offers the laserdisc version in Home Mode.  Dragon’s Lair is a brutally difficult game, which is why EA also some “boosts” to the game, such as infinite lives or being able to highlight portions of the screen that players will need to interact with. If you grew up visiting the local arcades in the 80s, then you’re all too familiar with Dragon’s Lair.  If you were the type to be doing actual outdoor activities that involved sunlight, green grass, and friends, then allow me to fill you in.  Dragon’s Lair has you playing as Dirk the Daring, who is on a quest to save Princess Daphne from the evil dragon Singe.  The game plays like an interactive cartoon where certain scenes would play and it’s up to the player to figure out how best to interact in order to progress through the levels. Dragon’s Lair for the iPhone / iPod Touch retails for $4.99 and is available right now in the App Store! Related News from IntoMobile: Konami announces Silent Scope to Apple App Store! Dell planning a communications unit that would make mobile devices, handsets included

I guess we all expected to see this happening now that the Dell Mini 3i has been officially announced. As a matter of fact, I bet the working group behind the Android-powered smartphone is already working as a semi-separate part of the company and forming an “official division” is the next logical step forward. According to a Dell spokesperson — and brought to us by the Wall Street Journal — the PC maker is planning to create a communications unit that would focus on mobile devices, handsets included.
