Snapture has updated its popular camera application for the iPhone. Version 2.0 builds on its powerful predecessor (which we covered in the past ) to include new features such as: Photo sharing to Facebook and Twitter Auto-focus and tap-to-focus New color modes: black & white, sepia and inverse Rest of the features from the previous releases were unchanged and include digital zoom (up to 5x), high-speed multi-shot, tap anywhere to take a picture, multiple image sizes, Level Aid, and so on

Microsoft ( NSDQ: MSFT ) will most likely introduce a new on-screen keyboard in the upcoming update to Windows Mobile. Apparently, WinMo 6.5 build 28002 comes with an updated DLL file which is used for virtual keyboard customization. It’s not clear how will this affect the handset makers which may have already developed their own keyboard apps, but it’s certainly good to know that even the most generic WinMo devices (those not made by the major companies) will come with something actually usable

In its efforts to compete with AdMob (now part of Google ( NSDQ: GOOG )), Greystripe has introduced a 99 cents per download program to guarantee iPhone application developers downloads of their free apps. The problem is that current CPC system leads to low conversions because there are a significant number of accidental clicks on banner ads that do not lead to downloads. Greystripe argues that app developers are paying as much as $10 per download with this model, hence they have something better to offer – pay only for actual downloads

It’s been a long time since I noticed an interesting iPhone case. Now I spotted a new one called BackFlip which comes with a 2-way kickstand that works both horizontally AND vertically. Meaning it allows you to watch your beloved handset in portrait and landscape mode, which is cool.

Bleeurgh. It’s not often O2 ( NYSE: TEF ) gets my back up – they are generally a pretty good and responsive network – but this time they’ve managed it. I got a rather perfunctory  email from them yesterday, telling me that my bills were being moved online, because it would save them paper! Hang on a minute, woah there, stop, ree-wind – at what point did I agree to this?

Media law firm Olswang on Wednesday published its 2009 Convergence Survey , which analyzed e-shopping trends among iPhone owners and general online consumers. Apple enthusiast blog 9to5Mac summarizes the findings regarding the iPhone demographic: 73 percent would pay to access online a film just released in cinemas; 67 percent would pay for access to a film that will not be on DVD for at least two months; 54 percent would pay to access a film which is already on DVD or pay-TV; 41 percent of iPhone users would already be willing to take out subscriptions to access their favorite TV shows; 42 percent would pay for an online book.

Nokia will be handling the modem side, while Infineon will be dealing with the hard part, the RF implementation. Since Nokia got rid of their ASIC designers back in August 2007 , the Finnish company been partnering with everyone in the industry in an attempt to save costs and decrease time to market for new products, so this isn’t anything new

You might have caught wind of the eBay app from the BlackBerry Developer Conference – well, it’s available now for download, allowing you to watch auctions, place bids, receive notifications of being outbid right in your Messages app, and enjoy native Calendar integration for reminders. Notifications all take advantage of the new push services , so you get notified of being outbid the second it happens, not five minutes after the auction’s wrapped up. eBay for BlackBerry ( NSDQ: RIMM ) works with PayPal, as you’d expect, but I wonder if there’s BlackBerry Wallet integration, too… There was talk at BBDC about the Wallet being linked to in-app purchaces .

AT&T’s Chief Lobbyist, Jim Cicconi, is pissed that Andrew McLaughlin, the White House Chief Technology Officer, said this regarding China’s censorship of the internet and how companies in the USA are treating their networks: “If it bothers you that the China government does it, it should bother you when your cable company does it.” Jim says that Andrew’s comments are “ill-considered and inflammatory” and that: “It is deeply disturbing when someone in a position of authority, like Mr. McLaughlin, is so intent on advancing his argument for regulation that he equates the outright censorship decisions of a communist government to the network congestion decisions of an American ISP.

Analysts over at ABI Research are saying that as of the end of September 2009, there are 100 operators around the world who are trialing, or close to trialing, LTE technology . Of those 100, over 40 of them are in Asia. Close to 200 operators are in the process of upgrading from 3G to HSPA+, increasing download speed to 21 megabits/second; 50 of those operators are in Asia

My first thought on seeing the rather raggedy Multi-Format LED Display Watch was “that thing looks hand made”. Not hand made in the sense of a Vertu phone, put together by craftsmen one precision engineered bearing at a time, but home made as in “A bit of gaffer tape should hold that together OK.” Reading further I discovered that the watch is in fact “hand assembled”, put together from aluminum and acrylic (not two materials usually associated with scratch-free durability). But what this $150 special-edition lacks in looks and materials choice, it makes up for in geek-awesomeness, or geeksomeness

In what seems as a desperate move to stay in power, Iran’s authorities are sending text messages to citizens warning them not to take part in anti-government protests. According to Tabnak , the SMS warns recipients that they have been identified as participants in past protests, and that they should stop attending demonstrations. The reports come ahead of Student Day that is scheduled for December 7th, and which the opposition has vowed to “turn green” in support of the Green movement backing opposition leader Mir Hossein Musavi.
