I would be sick of all of these Google ( NSDQ: GOOG ) announcements if they weren’t all so unanimously cool. Google Maps for Android is getting a few extra goodies, starting with “What’s nearby?” As you might expect, it shows all of the Google Maps listings closest to your GPS location. Simple, and an effective way of knowing what’s nearby without actually having to look away from your phone (heaven forbid)

Motorola will soon be pushing their Android wares in China. According to a new report from IDG, Motorola ( NYSE: MOT ) will soon send the Motorola MT710 Android smartphone to China as a keyboard-less variant of Verizon ( NYSE: VZ )’s Motorola DROID. Starting December 28th, China Mobile ( NYSE: CHL ) will offer the Motorola MT710 as part of their OPhone Android lineup, which offers Android phones running a special version of Android customized by China Mobile

In the flurry of Google announcements yesterday, one story made it through the cracks: real-time search results for Android and iPhone. In short, Google ( NSDQ: GOOG ) is including a little ticker in searches for hot, current topics that includes super-recent content from blogs, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, FriendFeed, Jaiku and Identi.ca. This can be great for breaking news that will come from on-the-scene sources before it gets chewed through bigger media and eventually indexed

Nokia ( NYSE: NOK ) has just announced a new version of the 13 month old 5800, the new Navigation Edition, and it will go on sale in the USA immediately for $299 at nokiausa.com and various other online shops. Way down, at the very bottom of the press release , they sneak in this nugget of gold: “Through December 31, Nokia is offering a 50 USD Visa prepaid gift card for customers who buy the device and activate an account with Ovi Store, Nokia’s marketplace for mobile applications, videos, games and more.” That’s right, Nokia will give you $50 to sign up for Ovi.

Namco is bringing its successful Pac-Man Championship Edition to the iPhone / iPod Touch this Thursday.  Pac-Man Championship Edition was originally released Summer 2007 on the Xbox Live Arcade with a positive response from reviewers. In Pac-Man Championship Edition, Namco takes the classic gameplay mechanics of Pac-Man and adds a fresh coat of updated graphics and two game modes, Mission & Championship, with an additional Challenge mode that can be purchased through an expansion pack.  Mission mode challenges players to complete a specific task such as collecting 3 pieces of fruit, or eating a specific number of ghosts in order to complete the mission.  Players can revisit a mission to attempt to complete it at a different difficulty level.  Championship mode feels more like the traditional Pac-Man game, but instead of progressing by way of eating all the pellets in a level, this mode requires you to beat the top score within a time limit. There are four different control schemes to play Pac-Man Championship Edition so anyone should be able to find a way to play comfortably.  The only thing I wish Namco would have included were leaderboards so I can compare my score with my friends.  Hopefully Namco offers something in the future (might i suggest Facebook integration?) because as of now, Pac-Man Championship Edition has a lot going for it.  There’s no word on pricing, but the XBLA retails for $10.

By now, you’re probably aware of questionable practices involved in Apple ( NSDQ: AAPL )’s iPhone application approval process. Apparently, there are quite a few apps that were rejected by Jobs & Co, hence a dedicated website was created to share the pain and, I guess, help in lobbying for more open procedure. The site is called “ Apple Rejected Me ” (ARM) and it’s main problem is that anyone can add his or her two cents anonymously

The massive HTC roadmap leak that occurred over the weekend was nice, but the pictures could have been a bit less grainy. A new photo of the HTC Bravo, posted below, has just managed to find itself on the internet. The specifications, in case you need to drool again at this lovely piece of smartphone scheduled to be released in April 2010, include a massive 3.7 inch WVGA (800×480 pixel) OLED display, quadband GSM/EDGE, dualband (900/2100 MHz) 7.2 Mbps HSPA, 5 megapixel camera, 720p video recording, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 1400 mAh battery, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, all powered by Qualcomm ( NSDQ: QCOM )’s powerful 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.

But, new revelations gleaned from Sony Ericssons’ own X10 whitepaper suggest that we might see T-Mobile ( NYSE: DT ) offering an XPERIA X10 in the near future. AT&T ( NYSE: T )’s U-verse TV service is looking like an even better deal this month. In the spirit of the holidays, AT&T is giving new U-verse customers a $200 prepaid Visa card, which can be used to purchase a new AT&T smartphone. After a healthy batch of both video and picture leaks of the next generation BlackBerry ( NSDQ: RIMM ) Pearl 9100, code-named Striker, we’ve got the first signs of a commercial presence. Given OEM parts seller SW-Box has 9100 keypads in stock , and unlocked handset vendor Pure Mobile has it up in their shop as coming soon , it won’t be long before we start seeing proper carrier inventories populating with 9100 SKUs. A release before the holidays might seem like wishful thinking, but Popular Electronics is listing the 9100 as available as of December 15 .

In case you haven’t heard the news from all the other technology blogs out there, Nokia ( NYSE: NOK ) is suing AU Optronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Samsung, Sharp, LG, Tatung, Seiko Epson, Samsung SDI, Hitachi, Toshiba ( OTCPK: TOSBF ) and Philips, for allegedly fixing the prices of LCD screens between January 1, 1996 to December 11, 2006. That’s 10 years of over paying. Why it took them so long to sue is a more interesting question than what kind of money Nokia is looking to earn from this legal battle.

A few weeks ago, telus ( NYSE: TU ) launched a suit against Rogers ( NYSE: RCI ) arguing that Rogers had no claim to being “Canada’s most reliable network” since telus now has an HSPA network to put them on par with the GSM incumbent. Today, Rogers’ front page has had some minor wording changes, namely that they aren’t necessarily the most reliable, but they’re still reliable… In that they have a network that does what it’s supposed to most of the time, I guess. The new tagline just doesn’t have that same “king of the hill” ring to it, does it?

A long, long time ago I was once told that if people in Japan ever experienced a dead zone, they would simply call their mobile operator, tell them what happened and where, and soon their problem would be fixed and an apology would be issued. Will AT&T do the same with their “Mark the Spot” iPhone application [ iTunes link ] remains to be seen, but it’s an awesome attempt to fix their problems, even if it’s just a publicity stunt. Here is how “Mark the Spot” works: You turn the application on after you’ve experienced terrible service from AT&T, select the problem you’ve experienced, allow the GPS to get a fix of where the problem is, and then hit submit.

EA Mobile announced today they have brought the timeless gaming classic, Dragon’s Lair , to the iPhone / iPod Touch.  Dragon’s Lair for the iPhone / iPod Touch stays true to the arcade classic in Arcade Mode, but it also offers the laserdisc version in Home Mode.  Dragon’s Lair is a brutally difficult game, which is why EA also some “boosts” to the game, such as infinite lives or being able to highlight portions of the screen that players will need to interact with. Rescue Princess Daphne All Over Again in Dragon’s Lair for the iPhone

Part of HTC’s 2010 roadmap has been leaked by “B3ler3fonte”, member of the xda-developers fourm . The 8 new devices fall into 4 new segments that HTC will be targeting, in much the same way that Nokia ( NYSE: NOK ) or Sony Ericsson ( NYSE: SNE ) target different audiences depending on the product being marketed.

I guess we all expected to see this happening now that the Dell Mini 3i has been officially announced. As a matter of fact, I bet the working group behind the Android-powered smartphone is already working as a semi-separate part of the company and forming an “official division” is the next logical step forward. According to a Dell spokesperson — and brought to us by the Wall Street Journal — the PC maker is planning to create a communications unit that would focus on mobile devices, handsets included.
