Sony Ericsson Aino struck down by software woes also

What is going on? Is there some kind of mobile device software sickness happening at Sony Ericsson ( NYSE: SNE )? First, they pull their premier device, the Satio, due to ’software issues’ (that’s deliberately vague methinks), and now it’s little brother, the Aino gets pulled too! The same reasoning is being given for the recall of the Aino from shelves, in that there are software glitches – the nature of which is again pretty unclear

Awesome parody of iPhone ads by UK newspaper

This must be the best take-off of the year by one of the red-top newspapers in the UK The Sun, which is celebrating 40 years of informing the nation this year, has parodied the iPhone advert in ad for their own newspaper. There are some excellent mirth-making touches in this little vid – I highly recommend you watch and be amused This must be the best take-off of the year by one of the red-top newspapers in the UK …

New track from Beyonce – Videophone (no phones in it though)

Hmmm  - following on from my last post about placement of mobile devices in videos, I was expecting a ton of them to pop up in Beyonce’s latest music video – given the song is called Videophone… Well you’ll be disappointed – there’s no product placement of any mobile devices, in fact, it’s got some potentially questionable content (at least that’s what the UK press/members of parliament think…).

Let’s play spot the N97…

Okay so I don’t watch that much TV, but I within that small amount I do see, there’s probably an unhealthy ratio of RnB videos. Say what you want about my preferred genre music (I’m not fussed!), but they has been a trend in recent years for mobile devices to be shown in them quite blatantly! I remember back in the day, the Black Eyed Peas ‘Let’s get it started/Let’s get retarded’ (the first title was the pop-friendly one, the second was it’s original name on the album) had one of the most in-yer-face product placements ever – for Sony Ericsson ( NYSE: SNE ) if I remember right.

Announcing my new mobile payment startup: Circle, because Square is for squares

When looking at how people use money in today’s world, we thought to ourselves, how can we make it better? Circle was started because one day, on the mean streets of New York City, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Stefan Constantinescu could not sell a teenager a dime bag of marijuana because the poor bastard didn’t have any cash. The academically challenged High School student only had a credit card tied to his parent’s checking account

The mythical Motorola ( NYSE: MOT ) Sholes tablet is starting to become reality. AT&T ( NYSE: T ) just can’t seem to shake the bad publicity that’s recently been riding its tail . Verizon ( NYSE: VZ ) Wireless is already bashing on AT&T’s 3G network for its spotty 3G coverage maps, and now Consumer Reports lists AT&T as the worst US wireless carrier as far as cellular service satisfaction is concerned. Square: A nice idea on paper, but a nightmare to implement and a small market to attract

One of Twitter’s founders, Jack Dorsey, just launched Square . It’s yet another company that attempts to tackle the issue of making mobile payments work, but instead of trying to become a completely new payment processor, they are depending on the existing infrastructure of plastic credit cards built by Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
