Renesas joins Symbian Foundation

Symbian Foundation is one member stronger, as we have Renesas Electronics Corporation announcing its decision to join the Nokia ( NYSE: NOK )-led group. As part of the deal, Renesas will make sure its chipsets support the Symbian platform to enable OEMs worldwide to create Symbian-compliant devices that fully meet the needs of network operators

Easy Locator 1.00 – Location Tracking for Blackberry

First Symbian 3 smartphone won’t be Nokia N8, launching from ‘Asian vendor’ in 2010

Nokia E73 launching on T-Mobile next month?

Looks like Nokia ( NYSE: NOK ) is prepping its next productivity handset and the E73, or “Mode,” could hit T-Mobile ( NYSE: DT ) USA as early as next month, according to screen shots obtained by Engadget. Not much is known about the E73 but it looks like it will retain a similar form factor to the E72 . That’s a good thing in my book because that was a stylish handset that felt really good in the hand and the full QWERTY keyboard makes it easy to bang out text messages and e-mails

Garminfone coming to T-Mobile this June for $199

Towards the end of last month we let you know that Garmin-Asus had a new phone just over the horizon called the Garminfone and while we had a bunch of specs for you we didn’t have an official release date or price point. Luckily, T-Mobile has just let u sknow that they will be shipping the device this June for $199 on a 2-year contract. If you don’t remember, this device is running Android but features a heavily modified user interface to make way for the GPS-esque UI we’ve come to know form other Garmin-Asus devices.

Turn-by-Turn navigation in Bing for WinMo

Good news for users of a cellphone that has Windows Mobile as the operative system, because Microsoft has added a very useful feature which brings turn-by-turn navigation via the Bing maps application. The new feature is already available to download for free and is supported by Windows Mobile cellphones on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Blue Skies for the iPhone/iPod Touch free today

Once again, another iPod Touch and iPhone game has gone free for a day. This time, it is Blue Skies, another shoot-em-up game. This one features about “30 levels of high-paced action” as well as “bonus items, a host of different weapons, and a random level generator”.

Project Natal getting an October release date

I think we are all looking forward to that motion control without a controller Project Natal from Microsoft, and we got a release date. Actually, we got an idea of a pre-Christmas launch date, and it is in October this year. I would imagine that they won’t make enough of them, so they purposely sell out before the holidays

Motorola Flipout: Let’s just say it’s square

Welcome to another square phone on the cellular phone block. The Flipout has both Android 2.1 and Motorola’s BLUR UI, a 3.1 Megapixel camera, a QWERTY keyboard, a 2.8 inch display, 256 MB of RAM, GPS, and 700 MHz processor. The Flipout is due to flip out in the United States in June one of three colors (green, black, and pink).

Japanese iPad 3G to be carrier locked

Back when the iPad was first announced Apple made it clear that the device would be sold unlocked. Well, it seems that only applied to everywhere besides Japan as it was recently announced that the iPad 3G will be locked to Softbank Mobile. If you’re familiar with Japan you’ll know that Softbank Mobile is the exclusive carrier of iPhones so it’s not really a surprise that Apple would choose them to received a locked down iPad.

Sprint waves goodbye to Nexus One, says hello to EVO 4G

What was once the premiere Android device is quickly getting overlooked by several carriers — It was already announced that Verizon wouldn’t be taking on the Nexus One, instead favoring the Droid Incredible and now Sprint is next. Sprint has just announced that they will be focusing hteir efforts of the EVO 4G and will not be releasing a Nexus One for their services. Of course if this saddens you in any way, don’t let it as the EVO 4G is superior to the Nexus One is virtually every way.

I don’t get the opportunity to play with many Motorola phones, so whenever I do, I’m always at least kind of intrigued.  And the Motorola i890 is going to give me an opportunity to satisfy my intrigue. The Motorola i890 is a folder-style flip phone with conference call capability, voice recorder, caller ID, speakerphone, Bluetooth connectivity, push to talk capability, a phone book with capacity for six hundred names and numbers, mobile web, mobile email, text messaging, Java capability, several kinds of downloadable content, a two megapixel camera with supplementing 4x zoom, alarm clock, calendar, MP3 player, and a battery capable of yielding a strange two hundred and five minutes of talk time on a single battery.

AT&T has just announced that they will be releasing two new MiFI devices manufactured by CradlePoint ; the PHS300 Personal WiFi Hostpot and the CTR350 Mobile Broadband Travel Router. Both of these devices are aimed towards the business crowd as they both feature the ability to connect up to 16 802.11b/g connections making it perfect for a corporate outing where a company won’t want to pay for individual wireless cards.
